Express progress

This past week end I finnaly got a print of the runs I had on the dyno back in march.
And if you study them carefully it appears that my motot has 45hp, that´s a 50% gain in horsepower, I´m even more satisfied with the motor now even though it´s just a number and it will run as it has done all the time.

The oval project is finished

Here is some fresh pictures of Jens´ 54 oval.
We finished the assembly this past week end, and he has already driven over 200km.
The only thing left is to get another set of wheels painted, and adding some white wall and it´s ready for Hessisch Oldendorf, remember this show is only a month away and it´s going to be a blast!

Jens took a couple of hard days/nights in the garage and finaly got his 54 ready!
On the picture you can see the happy owner giving the oval it´s first wash.

Spring cruise

Today it was time for the Danish vw vintage clubs yearly spring cruise. Nnfortunately I didn´t have the time particepate this year, but since it started only 20km from my home I took the oval for a quick spin this morning and drove by just to say hello.
There were gathered about 30 vehicles, I snapped a couple of pictures for you to enjoy.

New accessories

The past couple of weeks I´ve added another couple of accessory parts on the 54.
First I got in touch with a guy in the danish vintage vw club who had some of the old blankets for putting on you seats for protection. I´ve wanted a set for years, and known that you could buy them reproduced in Sweden, but I never had come around to order a set, and as always it´s nicer to have original parts than the repro ones.
So I have just waited for a nice used set to come along, and speaking to the guy about the price I had to know what condition the blankets were in, when he said they were nos as he had bought around 100 sets in the late 60eis I just had to buy a set!
A few days later I was offered a pretty cool glovebox organizer. I have seen these for the new big glovebox but never for the oval, and this should be a original old part. I think both parts are pretty cool, and a nice addition to the oval since they are useable not only some bling.

1 Mai treffen Hannover

Even though that I had stated that I wasn´t going to Hannover this year, I could feel the urge to go became bigger as the date came closer, and it turned out that Jens I drove of thuersday night at 1am heading for a 500km drive to Hannover.
We arrived a 7am and after a quick wash of the oval, we headed for the swapmeet.
It was big as always but there wasn´t many good deals to be made this year.
I looked at a cool Philips radio, but couldn´t decide to buy it or not, and later in the day the guy was gone, anybody seen that type of Philips radio before?
At 5pm we headed home again, this time cruising with some other danes.
We had a blast at the show, and a real nice cruise home!.
And further more the Express motor drove like a dream, going 13,5km pr liter.
